WHY IS SATINE KRYZE SO OPPOSED TO THE SENATE AND THE JEDI COUNCIL?

yellowwandsaber asked:

Helloooo dear one! So, I have a question for you… I’ve been thinking about this and I simply don’t understand. Why does Mandalore not want any protection from neither the Senate or the Jedi Council? And why does Satine mention that she thinks the Council is eager to interfere in her affairs? I mean… If they had worked together they could’ve driven Death Watch and the Seperatists out in no time right?

Hello there, dearest!

This is a good question. Two of the main things to keep in mind are Mandalore’s wish to remain neutral and Satine’s wish to embrace pacifism. It’s important to remember that neutrality and pacifism are ideals that work well together but they are not the same thing.

THE JEDI COUNCIL – SNOOTY, CONTRADICTORY, AND SILENTLY JUDGING YOU… SOMETIMES NOT SO SILENTLY…

If I had to guess, I would say Satine’s resistance to the Jedi stems from her pacifist beliefs. To my knowledge there isn’t a specific reason she thought they were meddling, but perhaps she was just generally suspicious of anyone trying to interfere in Mandalorian governance.

The truth is the Jedi were pretty contradictory during the Clone Wars; their original ethos was to be peace keepers. However, they became generals and warriors during the war. Palpatine deliberately established this contradiction with the intention of corrupting the Jedi from within. And ultimately, this plan worked.

Satine understandably did not trust an organization that, whether intentionally or not, went against their own ideals. The Jedi’s shift in morality was an example of what could happen to Mandalore once they began down that slippery slope.

ALLIES AT A COST

As regards the Senate, I would say this has more to do with Mandalore’s neutrality. The Republic government was notably corrupt even at that early part of the war. True, they may have provided military resource that could have stamped out the Death Watch, but it would have come at a cost. Mandalore would have almost certainly been required to support military actions that were in conflict with the system’s desire to be aligned with neither the Republic nor the Separatists.
